Greater Victoria mental health fundraiser falls shy of $100,000 goal

218 participants raise $84,937 cash, awareness for local programs

More than 200 people made a move for mental health with the annual Ride DonB次元官网网址檛 Hide event in Greater Victoria on June 9.

While some walked a five-kilometre path along the shores of Oak Bay, others cycled 100 kilometres from Windsor Park north to the Saanich Peninsula and back again.

Aside from building awareness and community, the event raises funds for mental health services and programs delivered by the Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division in Greater Victoria.

Across Canada the event has raised more than $11 million over the last 13 years, locally they hoped to raise $100,000 this year.

So far, the 218 registered participants reached $84,937

The team Shaggy and the Rat Traps showed the highest funds raised nearing its $15,000 goal while team member Ted Balderson turned in the top solo fundraising at $8,730, just shy of his $10,000 goal.
