Hello Humpback! by Oak Bay High grad Roy Henry Vickers and Victoria writer Robert BԪַLuckyBԪַ Budd is shortlisted for the prestigious 2018 Bill Duthie BooksellersBԪַ Award as part of the annual BC Book Prizes.

Published by Harbour Publishing, Hello Humpback! offers a vibrant and engaging BԪַfirst wordsBԪַ book, introducing young readers to the names and habitats of iconic Westcoast animals. Vickers is a renowned Indigenous carver, painter and printmaker based in B.C. With Budd, he is the co-author of the bestselling Northwest Coast Legends books series, all of which were shortlisted for the Bill Duthie BooksellersBԪַ Choice Award.

Budd is the author of Voices of British Columbia, which was shortlisted for the 2011 Bill Duthie BooksellersBԪַ Choice Award, and Echoes of British Columbia, which won second prize in the 2014 BC Historical FederationBԪַs writing competition. He is co-author of the Northwest Coast Legends books series.

The BC Book Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate the achievements of British Columbia writers and publishers. This yearBԪַs winners will be announced at the Lieutenant GovernorBԪַs BC Book Prizes Gala in Vancouver on Friday, May 4.
