U.K. actor, comedian, writer, street performer, improviser, and musician Charlotte Palmer has combined her talents to present B次元官网网址楾he Invisible Woman is Not Invisible, SheB次元官网网址檚 Merely Over 50B次元官网网址� which shows in Nanaimo this month.
B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 not about feeling sorry for yourself, itB次元官网网址檚 very comedic,B次元官网网址� Palmer said. B次元官网网址淏ut it is still giving a lot of facts and a lot of statistics. I just try to present them in a funny way.B次元官网网址�
Audience members have come up to the comedian after performances to tell her that they werenB次元官网网址檛 even fully aware of the stark facts.
In the show, Palmer refers to a study by the British Film Institute, which analyzed more than 2,000 scripts and noted that B次元官网网址渇or every 55,000 words that a man had, a woman had 11,000,B次元官网网址� in the 45-65 age range. Based on the 5:1 ratio, she then launches into B次元官网网址榮poof scriptsB次元官网网址� that give a male performer five words to the female performerB次元官网网址檚 one.
B次元官网网址淚t does have a serious point, but itB次元官网网址檚 not making anyone, least of all men, feel bad about themselves,B次元官网网址� she said. B次元官网网址淚B次元官网网址檓 finding humourous ways to present whatB次元官网网址檚 seriously going on in the business. And also elsewhere B次元官网网址� this is also happening for women in every walk of life.B次元官网网址�
Palmer said sheB次元官网网址檚 also pleased that men have come up to her after the show and expressed how much theyB次元官网网址檝e enjoyed it as well.
B次元官网网址淭he one thing I donB次元官网网址檛 want is for anyone to feel bad B次元官网网址� I do say in the show that, although weB次元官网网址檝e had a patriarchy for thousands of years, a patriarchy can only exist with the whole support of society and that includes women. And at no point do I want anyone to think that IB次元官网网址檓 having a go at them.B次元官网网址�
And rather than having younger women pitted against older women, as sheB次元官网网址檚 observed, the comedian would like to acknowledge that B次元官网网址渢his is something thatB次元官网网址檚 going to affect us all, and letB次元官网网址檚 band together on this one.B次元官网网址�
Palmer also noted the show has been adjusted and made more accessible for a Canadian audience with help from her longtime friend, Comox ValleyB次元官网网址檚 Helen Austin of Big Little Lions.
