UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre will make an exclusive appearance at Island FanCon 2025. 

St-Pierre, widely regarded as one of the greatest martial artists of all time, will meet fans, sign autographs, share stories of his career and participate in a Q&A panel on March 29 at the City Centre Park in Langford.

Known for his dominance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship octagon and his influence beyond it, St-PierreB次元官网网址檚 career includes two-division UFC titles and a reputation as a global sports icon.

The decision to invite the renowned fighter to a pop culture expo might seem surprising to some MMA enthusiasts. However, Eckardt pointed out that St-Pierre has made his mark outside the cage, particularly as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

His role as Batroc the Leaper B次元官网网址� a French mercenary skilled in savate, a hybrid martial art blending boxing and kickboxing B次元官网网址� introduced St-Pierre to a new audience. Many fans now recognize him for this villainous character who faced off against Captain America in The Winter Soldier.

As opposed to other Con-like events, often focusing on anime or video game culture, Island FanCon is an all-encompassing three-day exposition B次元官网网址渃elebrating all fandoms.B次元官网网址�

Eckardt highlighted the uniqueness of St-Pierre's appearance, noting that the retired fighter typically avoids large public events. 

Unlike many other elite athletes of his calibre, the martial artist rarely signs merchandise but will make an exception for the occasion in March, autographing authentic gloves, replica championship belts, and more.

Still amazed by the success of securing St-Pierre for this yearB次元官网网址檚 roster, Eckardt said that all it took was a personal connection and a simple phone call to the fighterB次元官网网址檚 manager.

When asked about the impetus behind this idea, the FanCon co-founder said that he had the light-bulb moment when bouncing ideas with Viking Sales president Ben Gulbrandsen B次元官网网址� who ultimately ended up sponsoring St-PierreB次元官网网址檚 visit.
