When the red recording light flashed on at HollywoodB次元官网网址檚 storied Roxy Theatre, the pressure was on the Tragically Hip to put on a good show, guitarist Paul Langlois recalls.

It wasnB次元官网网址檛 long before those nerves receded into the background, said Langlois, as frontman Gord Downie punctuated the rollicking set list with ad libbed musings.

The May 3, 1991 live performance will be released as a stand-alone album on digital streaming platforms, vinyl and CD on June 24, after being remastered for the HipB次元官网网址檚 30th anniversary B次元官网网址淩oad ApplesB次元官网网址� box set last year.

The concert has earned coveted status among Hip collectors over the decades, both because of its storied Sunset Strip venue and DownieB次元官网网址檚 off-the-cuff charisma, said Langlois.

The show, which was originally recorded for a radio broadcast, consists solely of the HipB次元官网网址檚 early B次元官网网址渞ockers,B次元官网网址� said Langlois, including B次元官网网址淟ittle Bones,B次元官网网址� B次元官网网址淟ong Time RunningB次元官网网址� and B次元官网网址淐ordelia.B次元官网网址�

The album also features the fabled nine-minute rendition of B次元官网网址淣ew Orleans Is SinkingB次元官网网址� known to fans as the B次元官网网址渒iller whale tankB次元官网网址� version, a reference to DownieB次元官网网址檚 mid-song B次元官网网址� possibly apocryphal B次元官网网址� anecdote about a job cleaning an aquarium.

The rest of the band riffed behind DownieB次元官网网址檚 improvisational interjections, and when necessary, steered him back to the song, said Langlois.

B次元官网网址淗eB次元官网网址檚 running across the water and weB次元官网网址檙e trying to keep him afloat underneath,B次元官网网址� he said.

B次元官网网址淲e were all in it together, so we could sense when to put the pedal down.B次元官网网址�
