Jazz Vespers returns to Deep CoveB次元官网网址檚 St. JohnB次元官网网址檚 United Church, featuring Vancouver-based talents Jennifer Scott and Rene Worst on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.
Scott, a vocalist, jazz pianist, and educator, is known for her expertise in jazz, blues, and world music. She has performed at jazz festivals across North America, sharing the stage with notable musicians like Jon Batiste, Clark Terry, and Kenny Wheeler. Her work has been featured on CBC-produced albums and programs such as the Glenn Gould Studio Concert Series. Scott's recordings include critically acclaimed albums Duets and Pairings, created with Worst, and several Juno-nominated projects with the group Mythos.
Worst is a bassist who has collaborated with various artists, including Chet Baker, David Bowie, and Freddie Hubbard. In addition to co-founding the Juno-nominated band Skywalk, he currently performs with Scott in their duo and with international groups Novo Tempo and Crossing Borders.
The Jazz Vespers series will continue on March 2, with featured performers to be announced. Future events include the John Lee Trio on April 6 and the Josh Warren Trio on May 6.
Jazz Vespers begins at 7 p.m. at St. JohnB次元官网网址檚 United Church, located at 10990 West Saanich Rd., near Deep Cove School. An offering will be collected to support the musicians and the Vespers program, with a suggested donation of $20 per person.
