Canadian comic Norm Macdonald has died, leaving behind countless stories and jokes, including an unpleasant vacation he once took to Victoria.

In an interview from 1998, the Quebec-born comedian and Saturday Night Live anchor told David Letterman about his regretful decision to book a bed-and-breakfast on the Island.

When Macdonald arrived at the B次元官网网址済uyB次元官网网址檚 houseB次元官网网址� he was greeted by a gruff old man he called olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney, who showed Macdonald B次元官网网址� the only guest for the night B次元官网网址� to his room. As Macdonald was settling in to sleep, he said a knock came at his door.

B次元官网网址淎nd I figure, uh oh, olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney wants to have sex with me,B次元官网网址� Macdonald said.

But, no, the old bed-and-breakfast owner was simply after a game of Scrabble.

Macdonald told Letterman he went first and laid down B次元官网网址淩ABBITB次元官网网址�, a word he felt moderately proud of, before watching in disbelief as olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney took half an hour to produce B次元官网网址淗ATB次元官网网址� only to place it across the triple-word score, nowhere near MacdonaldB次元官网网址檚 B次元官网网址淩ABBIT.B次元官网网址�

Macdonald said he let it slide and continued to produce words like B次元官网网址淪LEIGHB次元官网网址� and B次元官网网址淎VOCADO,B次元官网网址� building off his own words, while olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney produced B次元官网网址淐UPB次元官网网址� and other miscellaneous object words placing them wherever he pleased.

B次元官网网址淚B次元官网网址檓 playing excellently, I should be in the lead, but instead IB次元官网网址檓 like a thousand points behind,B次元官网网址� Macdonald joked. Finally, as the old man laid out B次元官网网址淏OOTB次元官网网址� across a triple-word score Macdonald was aiming for, he called olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney out on his game.

B次元官网网址淲ha? YouB次元官网网址檝e never heard tell of a boot?B次元官网网址� Macdonald said the old man responded with exasperation.

The next morning, Macdonald said he woke up hungry and was looking forward to the breakfast part of the bed-and-breakfast, but when he asked olB次元官网网址� Harold Delaney what was on the menu, the only response he got was, B次元官网网址淚 never been much for breakfast.B次元官网网址�

B次元官网网址淪o I go, B次元官网网址業 guess IB次元官网网址檒l go down to McDonaldB次元官网网址檚 and pick up some breakfast or somethingB次元官网网址�,B次元官网网址� Macdonald said. B次元官网网址淎nd Harold goes, B次元官网网址楥an you pick me up an Egg McMuffin?B次元官网网址�

MacdonaldB次元官网网址檚 death was confirmed Tuesday (Sept. 14) by his management agency after a long, private battle with cancer. He was 61.
