Island welcomes return of local talent for annual Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular

Katy Bowen-Roberts, show creator and artistic director, is happy to welcome  local artists back to the Island for the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular.

Take Victoria Stolting for example. Stolting will be singing the alto role in this yearB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s show. She grew up in the Comox Valley performing with Rainbow Youth Theatre, CYMC as well as training at Pantuso Dance. After graduating from Highland Secondary she went to Victoria to study at the Canadian College for Performing Arts and since graduating from there, has performed with the Victoria Symphony, The Belfry Theatre, HermannB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Jazz Club and has played various roles in film and television.

Meanwhile, Sarah Sheehan has been cast as a dancer in this yearB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s show B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” the 16th-annual. Sarah also grew up in the Comox Valley where she studied acting with Sitka Stage and Screen, voice with Carrie Lempke, music at Motif Studio and all styles of dance at Pantuso. She has many fond memories of performing in shows with CYMC and Rainbow Youth Theatre. She currently lives in Vancouver where she has been working in commercials and a soon-to-be-released indie film.

Emerging from Bowen-Roberts' own Island roots in the Yellow Point area between Ladysmith and Nanaimo, the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular has blossomed into a holiday tradition of music, dance, lights and holiday spirit staged in multiple Island communities.

This yearB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s show promises a vibrant mix of musical medleys, from Van Morrison and Dolly Parton to Taylor Swift, along with favorites from Grease, classic James Bond hits and the holiday classic White Christmas.

With a talented cast of 18 professional singers, dancers and musicians, this high-energy performance takes audiences on an emotional journey through rock, Broadway, jazz and classical music, interwoven with touching holiday stories.

This year, the show will be staged at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay Dec. 9 to 11, McPherson Playhouse in Victoria Dec. 14 and 15, and The Port Theatre in Nanaimo Dec. 17 to 22.
