A young great horned owl gets a second chance at a wild life after being reunited with its family.

The wild critter was returned to a nest at an undisclosed location thanks to a team effort between the Metchosin-based BC SPCA Wild Animal Rescue Centre (Wild ARC) and the Capital Regional District.

The wildlife rehab particularly thanked Dave Saunders who volunteered his time and expertise to climb the massive tree to get the little one home.

The agency plans to monitor the nest.

Signs of spring include tiny birds on the ground, fawns hidden among brush and baby wildlife crossing roads all over Greater Victoria. In 2023, Wild ARC admitted 2,132 sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.
