Women leaders gather at RRU for panel talk in Colwood

Royal Roads hosts inclusive leadership discussion Friday

With Liberal Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau vowing to appoint a cabinet of equal gender balance, Royal Roads University is hosting a discussion on how women can play important roles in creating more inclusive leadership.

This FridayB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s (Oct. 30) panel discussion, Women Leading Change: Authentic Experience in Action, runs from 3 to 5 p.m and will be moderated by Jennifer Walinga, director of RRUB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s School of Communication and Culture. Attendees will hear how womenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s experience can shape leadership practices and redefine measures of success.

The event features a keynote address by Susan R. Madsen, the Orin R. Woodbury Professor of Leadership and Ethics at Utah Valley University. Her speech is titled, The lived experience of women leaders: An authentic dialogue.

Panelists include Mary Collins, director of the Secretariat of the B.C. Healthy Living Alliance; Victoria-Beacon Hill MLA and former B.C. NDP leader Carole James; Andrea Kerr, student representative on the Royal Roads board of governors, and Marilyn Taylor, professor in the School of Leadership Studies at RRU.

The free talk is open to the public and takes place in the RRU Centre for Dialogue, Learning and Innovation. For those unable to attend, it will be broadcast at livestream.com/royalroads/events/4405020.
