And, the Great Canadian Casino in View Royal is rolling the dice that alcohol will complement blackjack and baccarat, after applying for a liquor licence on its gaming floor. The casino currently can serve drinks in the restaurant but applied to expand that to the slots and gaming table areas.

Based on preliminary results, the NDP wins every Western Communities poll in the May 28 provincial election. A poll-by-poll breakdown shows that if the Western Communities had a riding of their own, the NDP would have taken the seat nearly as handily as Moe Sihota won the Esquimalt-Metchosin constituency. Even in the Langford portion of the Malahat-Juan de Fuca, the NDP won every poll.

1986
Two women suspected of stealing from a Goodwill bin elude arrest. A Colwood RCMP officer answered a call about two women loading items from the Goodwill bin into their car. The officer finds the bin with clothes strewn about and two women parked nearby. However, Colwood RCMP Sgt. Jim Peters says there was no way of identifying the clothes so the women were not arrested and were able to retain the items. However the officer noticed their vehicle was unlicensed, and had it towed.

The new tourist information booth at 1810 Old Island Hwy. has little to salute when employees arrived to find four flags had been stolen. The six-by-10-foot flags depicting Canadian, British Columbian, Expo 86 and Tourism B.C. emblems are valued at approximately $180.
And, Gary Hansen is seeing red after dogs kill nine of his domesticated rabbits. Two wandering dogs got underneath the rabbit pen, pulling at them through the cage floor by their feet and ears.
