West Shore residents will have plenty of opportunities to get into the Halloween spirit this fall.

Here are just a few of the events taking place across the region.

Highlands gets an early jump on fun

Join the Highlands Fire Department for an early celebration on Sunday, Oct. 29 from noon until 2 p.m. at the West Firehall, 1564 Millstream Rd.

This open house event will include fire hall and truck tours, lots of candy, hot dogs by donation (with proceeds going to Muscular Dystrophy Canada) and a bonfire.

Treat Street returns to Langford

Langford Fire Rescue will once again be hosting Treat Street on Oct. 31.

Taking over Langford Station (720 Station Ave.), this event is back by popular demand. Running from 5 until 8 p.m., there will be free hot dogs, hot chocolate and treats.

There will also be live music, plenty of photo opportunities, games and more.

In support of the Teal Pumpkin Project, non-food treats will also be available. The Teal Pumpkin Project is a worldwide movement that aims to create a safer, more inclusive Halloween for all kids B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ particularly those with food allergies.

There will also be glow sticks to help get the crowd in the party mood.

The costume contest starts at 7:30 p.m. and the department noted it will have the largest bonfire on the West Shore. While there will not be fireworks this year, a new feature is the haunted hall for all to enjoy.

View Royal event a smashing success

View Royal Fire Rescue will be hosting its annual trick-or-treat event at the fire hall, 333 Island Hwy., on Oct. 31 from 6 until 9 p.m.

Hotdogs, refreshments and, of course, treats will be on offer for all as well as a family-friendly haunted house.

Join firefighters at the hall on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to get rid of your pumpkins by dropping them off the four-storey hose tower onto a car.
