Until May 23, those who are looking to add art BԪַ and doors BԪַ to their home can simultaneously support families who need a safe and decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity VictoriaBԪַs charity art auction, Open a Door, displays dozens of once-ordinary doors transformed into symbolic artworks and visions of a brighter future.
BԪַI chose to participate in Open a Door because this worthy organizationBԪַs mission addresses the serious lack of housing in our community,BԪַ said artist Susan Percival, who donated a piece and has previously participated in the annual fundraiser.
BԪַAs a low-income earner myself, it is very satisfying to create a door that can generate far more funds than what I could otherwise financially contribute BԪַ and it was my pleasure to do so.BԪַ
Habitat for Humanity Victoria said it is gratified by how quickly these volunteer local artists stepped forward to support the charity auction, and the many hours they invested.
Now available for purchase by auction, all doors (some of which are functional and can be installed) are on public display at the Centre Court, Mayfair Shopping Centre at 3147 Douglas Street until Thursday, May 23.
Visitors can bid on the doors they admire, on the spot, from a mobile device.
