SALTS has offered youth sailing trips from March-October for many years, but they have been limited to school groups rather than available to individual young people like these new camps are.

This spring break, youth aged 13 to 24 have the unique opportunity to sail the waters of the Salish Sea while learning the timeless art of traditional tall ship sailing.

The Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS) is offering two sailing camps from March 17 to 21 and March 24 to 28.

Departing from VictoriaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s upper harbour, participants will set sail aboard a traditional tall ship and embark on a five-day journey through the scenic Salish Sea and towards the Gulf Islands.

While onboard, the young sailors will take part in activities such as rowing ashore in fishing dories to explore marine parks and many other group activities.

Beyond sailing, SALTSB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ programs are designed to teach valuable life skills. Participants will learn to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve as they steer the ship, set sails, plot courses, complete chores, and stand watch.

Each year, SALTS provides coastal sail training to 1,700 youth aboard its tall ships, Pacific Grace and Pacific Swift.
