The Westshore Skatepark Coalition is continuing to lobby local councils for support to build a new facility on the West Shore.
Bobbi Neal, community development co-ordinator with West Shore Parks and Recreation, is working closely with the group to help facilitate the process.
BԪַThe Coalition is still working very hard and diligently in the community, receiving much support around presenting to community groups and (has received) offers of letters of support,BԪַ she said.
The group was schedule to make a presentation this week to Highlands council members and has yet to schedule a presentation with Langford.
To date the presentations, guided by avid skater and businessman Jimmy Miller, have detailed progress made on the project and asked councils for their municipalities to work with the Coalition in securing an appropriate location for a skatepark.
That has included seeking the various councilsBԪַ blessing for municipal staff involvement in the planning and development stages of the project.
Councils have also been asked to work with the group to raise awareness and secure funds for the new park, with costs still to be determined by the size and location.
Once the presentations are completed, the Coalition will compile all the information gathered from council meeting appearances, community consultations and survey results, and write a summary report.
