Exploring historic relationships took centre stage for Saanich police staff who participated in a Kairos Blanket workshop Jan. 28.

B次元官网网址淭ina Savea and her sons guided us through 500 years of history, where we stood on blankets representing the land, and took the role of historical First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples, by reading cards and scrolls,B次元官网网址� the department posted on social media. B次元官网网址淎 circle was then held where we shared our learning. We were grateful to take part in this inspirational experience, which promoted Indigenous history, culture and reconciliation.B次元官网网址�

A south Island resident, of the Kairos Blanket Exercise, an experiential workshop that explores the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.

It was developed by the Aboriginal Rights Coalition with Indigenous elders and educators in 1996 to develop an interactive way to learn history that many Canadians are never taught.
