In a Colwood home, a circle of ladies hand-sew the finishing touches on a bundle of quilts bound for Alberta this week.
Their tongues and fingers move quickly in the impromptu quilting bee, which aims to create comfort for flood victims.
Members of the West Shore Quilters Guild quickly came together once they realized a member of their own had close ties to flood-ravaged Calgary.

When she learned of efforts spearheaded by friends there, she decided to take action and came up with Quilting for Calgary (facebook.com/groups/quiltingforcalgary/).

Mummery and her machinery offered the ability to create quilts quickly from kits pre-assembled by the West Shore Quilters Guild.
B次元官网网址淲e had kits put together in our warehouse ready to go,B次元官网网址� said Jan Gillis, guild president.
While the cleanup is ongoing from last monthB次元官网网址檚 devastating flood, many people affected lost everything.
B次元官网网址淭he capability of people getting back what they lost are low,B次元官网网址� Gillis said.
The guild has sent 22 quilts so far and planned to have another 11 go out today (July 12).

Transporting the quilts was done through WestJetB次元官网网址檚 Air Angels program, in which staffers volunteer to get emergency relief items where they need to go.
