Shoppers scouring tables laden with unsold consignment clothing will raise funds for the Victoria Pregnancy Centre.

Baja RosiB次元官网网址檚 Consignment Cabana hosts its fourth annual Stuff Your Bag fundraiser for the cause, fittingly on Labour Day.

B次元官网网址淜nowing cash-strapped charities have more need for dollars than used clothing, we have come up with this creative way to raise funds while offering outrageous deals and epic fun,B次元官网网址� said Carolyn Barter, owner of the Langford clothing store.

She met Stephanie Timmerman, director of the centre, a few years ago, when Timmerman was out seeking support.

B次元官网网址淚 wanted to help and we had this product, which we were already donating to the Single Parent Resource Centre,B次元官网网址� Barner said.

Unsold and unclaimed consignment clothes are stored away, then once a year over a four-hour period shoppers can stuff a bag for $10. Tables donated by a local school are staffed by volunteers and refilled throughout the event.

B次元官网网址淲e had no idea what it was going to be like, but the first year we sold just under $4,000 worth,B次元官网网址� Barter said. B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 the goodwill that comes from the people, some just throw in $20.B次元官网网址�

Last yearB次元官网网址檚 event raised $7,000 for the Victoria Pregnancy Centre.

Plus it's entertaining, with folks showing up as early as 7 a.m. in preparation. With no change rooms, shoppers come up with creative solutions such as bringing sleeping bags or wearing a swimsuit.

Bags are provided and are $10 cash, each.

The store hosts the fundraiser in the parking lot at 103-797 Goldstream Ave. on Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.
