A Sooke woman has begun a new club for miniature horses, with the hope other equine fanciers will join up.

Miniature Horses of Sooke is the brainchild of Beverly Armstrong, who said many of the tiny animals live in the Sooke Region. She estimates at least 10 miniature horses can be found locally.

B次元官网网址淚 have always loved them. You can cuddle with them and play with them, and they can learn all kinds of fun tricks,B次元官网网址� Armstrong said.

Armstrong has owned miniature horses for two years. Her last horse was adopted from a rescue facility on the Lower Mainland, and it didnB次元官网网址檛 take long for the animal to become a part of the family.

Miniature horses were bred down from full-size horses and used as pack animals in coal mines. Nowadays, miniature horses are less work animals and more pets.

Fiona is 10 years old and a hefty 300 pounds, said Armstrong, who participated in the Sooke Fall Fair and Santa Claus Parade with the horse.
