Fort Rodd Hill is hosting an old fashioned garden tea party on MotherB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Day.
The organization is celebrating women in all facets from period fashion from many different eras to roles women held during the war.
Guests will enter the Garry Oak meadow and be handed rationing tickets to exchange for complimentary refreshments.
There will be Victoria-Esquimalt Military Re-enactors Association (VEMRA) actors performing an interpretive program and there will be display stations with living historians for an inside look into how women helped with victory gardens and more. People can also visit the Women on the Homefront exhibit on the grounds.
There will be wartime tunes and fiddle music and plenty of photo opportunities amongst the garden in full bloom.
Guests will be served tea and cookies by VEMRA volunteers and there will be ration cake for sampling.
Attendees are encouraged to get into character and dress up, although itB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s not a requirement, and bring a picnic if they wish.
The event takes place in the Garry Oak Learning Meadow Sunday, May 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is $3.90 per adult and youth 17 and under get in for free.
ThereB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s an opportunity to purchase earlybird annual passes for the historic sites for $5.80 per adult, youth 17 and under are free.
This the first of many special events for the season. The history military encampment event takes place May 18 to 20 and summer hours at Fort Rodd Hill start May 15.
