Labour Day is so pass茅, Metchosin Day is where itB次元官网网址檚 at this weekend.
The annual event started in 1967 and is a full day dedicated to celebrating the rural charm of the District of Metchosin.
Mary Gidney, Metchosin Day chairperson, said the event is a team effort and everyone in the community plays a part to make the day a success.
Gidney, who has been the event chairperson for the past 12 years, said the response from vendors asking to be a part of the day was overwhelming this year, as all 110 spots were filled, with 30 more wanting to participate.

As per tradition, SundayB次元官网网址檚 event will start with a five-kilometre run/walk beginning at the community hall at 8 a.m. There are prizes for the fastest in each age category and draw prizes.
There will be plenty of entertainment for people to enjoy. Bands will be performing at the main stage, including the Metchosinites, while the Morris dancers will take the field during the day.

There will also be a number of contests such as baking, photography, and 4H showmanship, as well as live gymnastics demonstrations, motorcycle demonstrations by the Victoria Motorcycle Club and vintage cars to peruse.
The motorcycle demonstrations run every two hours beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Vendors from local farmersB次元官网网址� market will be selling vegetables, meat, fruits, crafts and artisan creations, to name a few. There will be plenty of food, and as usual, the lamb will be roasting all day leading up to the feast at 5 p.m.

The lamb and salmon barbecue is a $20 deal, and tickets will be sold at the ticket booth throughout the day.
Hayrides and turns on the backhoe digger are still 25 cents and 50 cents, respectively.
Metchosin Day takes place at the Metchosin Municipal Grounds behind the fire hall, at 4450 Happy Valley Rd., on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
