Black Press and Staples, in partnership with Camosun College, are proud to recognize some of the great teachers found here in the Capital Region. We asked our readers to nominate teachers who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of the students they teach.Jennifer MacDonald is the vice principal at Eagle View elementary school. Here is what her nominator had to say about her:She teaches a 4/5 split and is vice principal. She has done a tremendous job inspiring students to take leadership opportunities and think for themselves. She fosters friendships, and builds confidence in her students. My daughter, in Grade 4, has shown such academic, personal, and altruistic growth this past year, and I know her teacher is a key reason behind this change.Ms. MacDonald has done things like award her students with special surprise pizza lunches, given them individual responsibilities within the class, assigned timely projects that are set in real-world examples (such as a classroom vote on the B.C. election), and she keeps everything very positive.Look for our Great Teachers special section running June 21 which will recognize the three teachers selected as this yearB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s representatives as well as list all of the West Shore nominees.
