Learn to camp program returns to Colwood July 14 to 15

Have you ever wanted to learn how to camp, but find the idea a little intimidating? Well, Parks Canada can show you the ropes this month in Colwood.

The learn to camp event is back for another year at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites, running from July 14 to 15.

The program connects first-time campers with this fun outdoor experience in a family-friendly environment that gives participants the experience and confidence to explore more of CanadaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s great outdoors. Participants will learn how to set up a tent, use a camp stove and other important safety skills. There will also be traditional camping fare, plenty of games, some classic campfire stories and the chance to explore Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse.

Basic camping gear is provided including tents, sleeping pads, two meals, snacks, workshops and activities.

The cost is $44 per participant or $22 for children between the ages of three and five. Children under the age of two are free. Participants are asked to pre-register before July 9. For more information call 1-844-365-2646 or go to .
