The Goldstream Food Bank is swimming in donations thanks to the efforts of the South Vancouver Island Rangers.
At their fishing derby in August, the group brought in a haul of 600 pounds of salmon, which was all given to the food bank to share with the community.
The catch was an impressive 20 per cent increase on their 2023 donation.
Alongside the salmon, the group has also donated $5,000, raised through their annual Christmas toy drive. The money will be used by the food bank to help support individuals and families over the holidays.
"The money is still growing and will end up being well over $5,000 in total this year," said Jeremy Griese, head ranger.
The South Vancouver Island Rangers is a Langford-based social club with onsite trap and skeet shooting facilities. The group, who say they are proud supporters of the food bank, fundraise for a variety of community causes.
