Each year the city spent between $2,000 and $2,500 on the event.

Aside from having lacking numbers of attendees, the city cited a dwindling number of entries in the parade and dropping numbers in volunteers.

Council will look again at the event next year.

The festival began as a two-day event 11 years ago called Langford Lavender Festival before being renamed Langford Days.

The summer festival is usually held on the third weekend in July and offered a parade, fishing derby, pancake breakfast and family activities.
