Several fun activities taking place on the West Shore this weekend

Grab some food at the beach

Beach Food Fridays and Saturdays are still going strong at the Colwood waterfront. Taking place every Friday and Saturday (weather permitting) until September, two or three food vendors will set up in a designated area near the welcome sign on Ocean Boulevard between noon and 7 p.m.

On the schedule for this weekend is LB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™Authentique Poutine and Burgers, Grilled to the Mac, Greek on the Street and Road Treasure Treats on Friday with Smiley Brothers playing live music from 5 to 7 p.m. LB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™Authentique Poutine and Burgers, Grilled to the Mac and Road Treasure Treats return on Saturday, joined by Indecent Risotto, and BackBeat playing music from 5 to 7 p.m.

And, because itB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s the Canada Day long weekend, Indecent Risotto will be set up on Sunday for a limited time.

Celebrate Canada Day with a pool party

Celebrate Canada Day and kick off summer in style at the Great Canadian Pool Party.

Taking place on Sunday, July 1, from noon until 4 p.m. at the North Langford Recreation Centre this event is poolside. Celebrate with a live DJ, cabana chefs grilling on the barbecue and refreshing poolside drinks.

Celebrate Canada Day with Parks Canada

Grab a piece of the largest birthday cake in the region and celebrate CanadaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s 151st birthday at the Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites in Colwood. The park opens at 10 a.m. with family-friendly events until 4:30 p.m., including a 21 gun salute, photo booth, tide pool discovery program and a citizenship reaffirmation ceremony.

DonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t miss the fireworks

While not taking place on the West Shore, there are plenty of fun activities taking place in downtown Victoria. Celebrate on Sunday in VictoriaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Inner Harbour from noon until 10:30 p.m. with live performances by Carmanah, Batuque Axe, Lekwungen Dancers, Olivier Couture, Band of Rascals, Paint the Town Red, and many more.

There are also lots of family-friendly events taking placing including the living flag and the grand finale fireworks show.
