The Greater Victoria Public LibraryB次元官网网址檚 Goudy branch recently received a much-needed expansion which will provide more space for library users.
As part of the upgrades, the space between the neighbouring PonchoB次元官网网址檚 Coffee House and the current library on Goldstream Avenue has been transformed into a work space including green and yellow chairs, tables and charging stations for electronic devices.

B次元官网网址淭hey can use it for plugging in their laptops or other devices, and just for generally sitting. In the mornings itB次元官网网址檚 usually completely filled. People have their laptops and theyB次元官网网址檙e working. ItB次元官网网址檚 a nice expansion of our space,B次元官网网址� said Andrea Brimmell, co-ordinator West Shore district and assistive services with the library.
B次元官网网址淎side from the computers, there were no places for people to sit and work, which is one of the big things people use libraries for now.B次元官网网址�
Work from local artist Linda Bryne as well as a community bulletin board also hang on the purple walls. Library users can eat and drink in the new roughly 700-square-foot space, but it is not encouraged in the library itself.
In the past, coffee shop patrons and library users shared the washrooms space, however, when the coffee shop was closed, library users didnB次元官网网址檛 have access to the washroom. There were no tables, aside from the computers in the library. Renovations began in January and included sprucing up the bathrooms and changing the carpet.
On Monday, members of the library, alongside members of Langford city council, gathered to celebrate the expansion.
Coun. Denise Blackwell, who was at the tour of the expansion, said itB次元官网网址檚 of great benefit to the community.
