In collaboration with the Township of Esquimalt, the Greater Victoria Green Team held their annual Earth Day Celebration, which was their biggest event to date.

On Wednesday, April 17, the event saw more than 800 participants which included multiple stations for Esquimalt students to participate in various habitat restoration activities including tree planting, invasive plant removal and trail building.

The green team ran an invasive plant removal station for adult volunteers and together they removed a total of 19 cubic metres of invasive Himalayan blackberry and English ivy.

In total, volunteers revitalized an area of about 550 square-metres.

On Saturday, April 20, the team is inviting volunteers to help remove Himalayan blackberry at MurrayB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Pond Park, and on Sunday they will be planting native trees and shrubs at Colwood Creek Park.
