A West Shore youth who plans on giving back to the homeless this Christmas Eve has already seen a lot of support from community members.

Ten-year-old Chase Doucette began collecting donations and warm apparel last weekend. He plans to build gift bags to give out to homeless people downtown on Christmas Eve.

Doucette said he was inspired to do so after discussing homelessness with his class at Crystal View Elementary School in Langford.

DoucetteB次元官网网址檚 mother, Sheryl, said he will also be collecting soft and hard food for cats and dogs since some people have furry family members that need to be fed.

Sheryl said since news has spread about ChaseB次元官网网址檚 idea, EZ Lube and Car Wash on Jacklin Road in Langford has also stepped up, allowing the family to use their location as a donation drop-off spot.

B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 going great,B次元官网网址� Sheryl said. B次元官网网址淲e have raised almost $300, all that will go towards the Tim Hortons gift cards.B次元官网网址�

Sheryl said they have been able to put together 10 gift bags already.

The gift bags contain a Tim Hortons gift card and items like a blanket, scarf, gloves and a toque. Chase is also looking to collect jackets to give out.
