Start the new year with a moment of stillness and reflection throughout the Royal BC Museum with self-guided wellness stations designed for mindfulness and intention.
ItB次元官网网址檚 just one offering at Victoria's RBCM to kick off 2025, alongside admission by donation, a throwback to letter writing and a reintroduction to revamped and expanded core galleries.
The Royal BC Museum is admission by donation from Jan. 6 to 12 with visitors invited to explore new and reopened spaces plus Canadian Modern, a feature exhibition from the Royal Ontario Museum on modern design in Canada.
Canadian Modern B次元官网网址 highlighting the experimentation, innovation and ingenuity behind 100 culturally significant objects created in Canada B次元官网网址 is on the third floor next to Old Town, New Approach, and will be at the Royal BC Museum through Feb. 16.
Elsewhere on the third floor are two recently refreshed spaces: the Jonathan Hunt House and Our Living Languages, developed in partnership with the First PeoplesB次元官网网址 Cultural Council. Both spaces celebrate the provinceB次元官网网址檚 rich Indigenous history and the communities that continue to shape and influence the region.
Alongside longstanding visitor favourite HMS Discovery is a newly reimagined space called Forgotten Landscapes. In May 2023, the exhibition team uncovered longB次元官网网址恖ost landscape paintings from the early 1900s. Initially meant to display taxidermy, these showcases were later repurposed for maritime artifacts. Now, these original paintings are back on display.
As always, the museumB次元官网网址檚 second floor is home to the Natural History gallery, featuring stunning recreations of B.C.B次元官网网址檚 most iconic fauna, flora, and natural landscapes.
Jan. 9 through 13 is also Letter Writing Week at the Royal BC Museum. Stop by the letter writing station on the third-floor mezzanine between noon to 3 p.m. where paper, pens, envelopes and stamps are provided.
From Jan. 6 to 19, a self-guided experience of intention includes gratitude exercises, poetry writing and breathwork as part of Tourism Victoria's wellness getaway happening across Victoria.
Donations during Community Days help fund the museumB次元官网网址檚 operations, including creating online learning programs and events, collecting specimens from across B.C., digitizing historical photographs and documents, conserving artifacts and more.
