A Juan de Fuca girls soccer team is turning a weekend movie matinee in to a fundraiser for the Victoria General Hospital.

The JDF U12 girls team, the Panthers, is hosting a showing of Megamind on April 30, 11 a.m. at the Caprice Theatre in Langford. All ticket sales are going toward the VGH pediatric oncology department, which focuses on childhood cancers.

The team was inspired by its teammate Jaimey Hamilton, 11, a Metchosin resident and two-time leukemia survivor.

Parent and organizer Kristina Vanlierop said the girls want to focus the funds on the VGH pediatric oncology isolation room.

Tickets for the Saturday show are $5 and available at the door or at the Goldstream B次元官网网址 Gazette office between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. until Friday.
