If you love blackberries and pies or both, then there is an upcoming event you wonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t want to miss.

This Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the St. Mary of the IncarnationB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Blackberry Festival will take place at 4125 Metchosin Rd.

The blackberries in the festival were handpicked from local patches. In fact, more than 102 four-litre buckets were picked just for the event this year. In total, 270 deep-dish pies were made. Leftover berries have gone into baked goods, jellies, jams, cordials and exotic vinaigrettes.

The event is a fundraiser to raise money for the church to further community outreach by the congregation and help with the maintenance of church facilities.
