When you wear a blue cornflower in June, it sends a message of hope to people living with amytrophic lateral sclerosis.
The national ALS flower may look fragile, but this wildflower is known for being hardy B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ much like people who suffer from the rapidly progressive neuro-muscular disease.
Shopping centres throughout Greater Victoria and Sidney will feature ALS awareness tables on June 4. Blue cornflowers will be available for a donation in support ALS research. Last year, residents contributed $20,000 to the Victoria chapter of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of B.C.
