Customers, managers and team members from PH Restaurants LP all played a role in raising the money through fundraising initiatives and the purchase of paper sneakers. The money raised goes toward preventing, treating and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
More than 300,000 Canadians are dealing with Type 1 diabetes, with the estimated cost to health care expected to reach $16 billion by 2020.
The Langford Pizza Hut was one of 48 throughout the province involved in the JDRF Telus Walk to Cure. JDRF funds research worldwide in search of a cure. PH Restaurants LP has raised $285,000 during the last 10 years in support of the Telus Walk.
Mike Cyr, president of PH Restaurants LP, said in a release that heBԪַs pleased to note this yearBԪַs total marked a 47 per cent increase from the year before, earning a 2017 STEPPINBԪַ UP Corporate Achievement Award. BԪַPizza Hut strongly believes in getting involved locally, which is why it chose an organization like JDRF,BԪַ Cyr said.
