Summer has nearly arrived and with temperatures in the mid- to high-20s, itB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s important to stay hydrated, remember to wear sunscreen and donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t leave your fur babies in the car, even just for a few minutes.

On Monday, June 22 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. a celebration marks National Aboriginal Day for the first time at VeteranB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Memorial Park. There will be a BBQ lunch, cultural performances, a loonie/ toonie auction and much more entertainment, so be sure to stop by and take in the festivities.
Most of us with children are looking for summer camps and other ways to entertain our kids this summer. Westshore Dance has some exciting camps for children, including movie-themed classes, which are sure to keep them busy and active.
Westshore Parks and Recreation has a multitude of camps B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ from licensed day care to day camps B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ ranging from science camp, stand up paddle boarding, golf camps and indoor rock climbing. Westshore Karate is running its Karate Adventure Camp July 13 to 17 and Aug. 4 to 7. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends while learning karate, exploring parks and playgrounds, and trying exciting sports and activities. Space is limited. Many of the eateries around the Westshore have outdoor patios for your enjoyment, including the Metropolitan Bar and Grill at the Four Points Sheraton Victoria Gateway up behind Costco. Some other fun spots are DagwoodB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Café and Bin 4, both on Goldstream Avenue.
DarcyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Pub also has its patio open and you can enjoy live music Friday and Saturday nights. Check out their Lip Synch battle on Tuesday, June 30, Send a video submissions in to Westshore@darcyspub.ca prior to June 28 to be entered in the competition. The cash prize is $500.
The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa has a spectacular patio with a tremendous view that makes a perfect end to the work day. It is certainly worth the drive.
