With the demand for high-quality hunting and fishing equipment on the rise, one well-known merchant is grabbing the bull by the horns, so to speak.

Joined by members of the Victoria Fish and Game Protective Association, staff at Canadian Tire in Langford are launching their storeB次元官网网址檚 new Pro Hunt Shop with a special event Saturday (Sept. 13).

Canadian Tire has been putting the expanded department into select stores across Canada for about a year, says Langford owner and operator, Tim Curry. His store is the lone franchise in Greater Victoria to open the new department.

B次元官网网址淲e think thereB次元官网网址檚 a great market here and itB次元官网网址檚 not being serviced as it could be,B次元官网网址� he says. The department has been expanded by 25 per cent, with 50 per cent more stock on the shelves, Curry adds.

ThereB次元官网网址檚 also been a huge growth in the archery industry, he says, B次元官网网址渟purred by the Hunger Games.B次元官网网址�

As such, the store has a whole new section dedicated to the activity.

B次元官网网址�(Archery is) a recreational sport. ItB次元官网网址檚 not so much for killing animals, more for practising.B次元官网网址�

The Pro Hunt Shop also carries ammunition, accessories for guns and equipment, cleaning supplies, hunting clothing, bows for varying skill levels and other archery supplies.

Fish and Game Association members will have displays and information set up on site.

Besides the unveiling of loads of new stock, hundreds of freebies and prizes will be given away, including a chance to win one of five $100 Canadian Tire gift certificates.

The launch happens only at the Langford Canadian Tire store, at 855 Langford Pkwy. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
