GALLERY WOW 2017: West Shore women continue to break the mould

The Gazette shares some of the experiences and insights of West Shore women in business

Christine Scott, Gazette Publisher

So far, 2017 has been a very interesting year. At a local level we are approaching a provincial general election with some of the strongest, most acclaimed women stepping up to represent us in all ridings. I for one, am very enthusiastic about the outcome and interested in all aspects of this political landscape.

Across the border we are watching with mixed feelings the fate of our U.S. neighbours as time unfolds. Not to be missed the U.K. is facing its own set of challenges as they move towards a general election in June of this year. All of these races towards the finish line involve women in key positions. We catch up with some of our local women in politics in our special Women of the Westshore section.

If you missed it in FridayB次元官网网址檚 Gazette, you can find all of those stories online . Stories will be added to this page regularly until Monday, May 1.

With CanadaB次元官网网址檚 150th birthday just around the corner in July we hope you enjoy the historical pieces interspersed throughout the section as we look back on some of the key women who have shaped our world today.

Cheryl Eason, the new CFO of Royal Roads University, spoke at our Women of the Westshore event, we hope you find her story inspiring and interesting. C. Anne McIntyre the executive director of Disaster Aid Canada is working hard to ensure that those in need of hygiene kits can find what they are looking for by tasking the community to drop off any unused toiletries for the chance to win a $100 gift card generously donated by Glo Restaurant and Lounge. The Goldstream Gazette will gladly process any donations made to this cause, just drop off your donation at our office.

The Goldstream Gazette is also sponsoring the Goddess Run and we are hopeful that the entrants this year will exceed previous ones as part of the proceeds will assist the B.C. Cancer Foundation in their fundraising goal to provide Vancouver Island with its own PET/CT scanner for early cancer detection. Read about the fun filled event in this section and let us know if you would like to enter a team or are looking at volunteer opportunities for that weekend.

Lastly I would like to thank for her hard work and commitment again this year in producing an excellent Women of the Westshore section. Let us know what you think.
